The biggest advantage is the lowest printing cost, which is why it is the most popular. The ink used in these printers is in powder form, which is why there is no risk of dry ink due to non-usage for a long time. Also, it is high speed as compared to ink tank printers. So if your monthly average printing is more than 500 pages, you can consider buying a laser printer.

The biggest disadvantage is its initial cost, which is comparatively higher than ink tank printers. Especially, if you are planning to print in colors as well then color laser printers range starts from a much higher price. Also, per page printing cost in color laser is very high, as the ink cannot be refilled, and you have to purchase complete toner every time.

So, if your monthly printing volume is high, and you are not printing anything in color, then buying a laser printer is always a good choice.
